Purpose
This article explains how drivers can edit their electronic log events in the Encompass® ELD application on Android™ devices. Under the ELD Mandate, drivers may edit today's log and previous days' logs, but automatically recorded driving events cannot be modified.
When to Use This Article
- A driver needs to correct a duty status time on their Android ELD log.
- A driver needs to add a missing event to a previous day's log.
- A support agent is walking a driver through the log editing process on Android.
Steps to Follow
Access the Edit Log Screen
Tap the View Log icon from the Encompass® ELD Dashboard (or the Edit Log icon for new customers).
Tap the Edit Log button on the View Grid tab.
The Edit Log screen displays the log events for the current day.
- To edit a different day, tap the arrows or tap the Log Date to change the date.
- Next to each duty status change, there is an Edit button.
- At the top of the Events list, tap Add Event to add a new entry.
TIP: If you cannot see the events while holding the device horizontally, scroll below the grid or rotate the device to hold it vertically.
Edit an Existing Event
From the Edit Log page, tap Edit next to the duty status that needs to be changed.
Make necessary changes (e.g., adjust the Start time). Ensure all required fields (marked with *) are filled out. Enter an Annotation explaining why the change was made. Click Save.
The updated status is now reflected in the event list.
The edited status appears in green on the grid log screen, indicating it was an edit.
What Not to Do / Common Pitfalls
- Do not attempt to edit automatically recorded driving events. These are locked per the ELD Mandate.
- Do not forget to enter an Annotation when editing. An annotation is required to explain the reason for the change.
- If there is no log created for a day you need to edit, you must first create an Off Duty log for that day before making edits.
- Do not skip required fields (marked with *). The edit will not save without them.
Escalation Path
- If the driver cannot edit a log event (e.g., it is an automatically recorded driving event or the day is outside the editable range), the company Administrator must make corrections in the Encompass back-office system.
