Purpose
This article explains how the Encompass® ELD application alerts drivers to missing logs and allows them to create Off Duty logs for unlogged days within the past 7 days. It covers the automatic prompt upon login and the manual process through the System Menu.
When to Use This Article
- A driver receives a prompt about missing logs upon logging in to the ELD app.
- A driver needs to manually create Off Duty logs for days they were not driving.
- A driver's log history shows gaps that need to be filled for compliance.
Steps to Follow
Option 1: Off Duty Log Alert Upon Login
Upon logging into the application, the system checks for missing logs. If gaps are found, the driver is prompted to create Off Duty logs. Select Yes to create them.
Option 2: Create Off Duty Logs via Menu
From the dashboard, tap Menu in the upper right corner, then tap System Menu.

What Not to Do / Common Pitfalls
- Do not ignore the missing logs prompt at login. Gaps in log history can cause compliance issues.
- Do not expect to create Off Duty logs for dates beyond the app's allowed range (typically the past 7 days).
- The app can only create Off Duty logs. If a different status is needed for those days, create the Off Duty log first, then edit it.
Escalation Path
- If the driver cannot create Off Duty logs for dates outside the app's allowed range, the Administrator must enter them in the Encompass back-office system.
