Compare VT100 Features by Service Plan

Purpose

This article compares the features available on the VT100 device across the three service plans (Basic Tracking, Plus Tracking, and Driver Premium ELD) to help customers understand what functionality is included with their plan.

 

When to Use This Article

• You need to know what features are included in their VT100 service plan.
• Deciding which VT100 service plan to select.
• Need to know why certain features (e.g., IFTA reporting, vehicle performance data, HOS) are not available on their device.
• You need to understand the difference between Basic Tracking, Plus Tracking, and Driver Premium ELD.

Steps to Follow

The VT100 offers a range of features designed to enhance fleet visibility, driver safety, and compliance. The available functionality depends on the Data Profile and/or Service Plan selected. Below is an overview of what each plan includes.

Service Plans Overview

The VT100 supports 3 primary Service Plans:

• Basic Tracking Plan
• Plus Tracking Plan
• Driver Premium ELD

Each plan provides different levels of data and compliance features. Use the table below to understand which features are included in your plan.

Feature Comparison

*NOTE: As an ELD, all data with the exception of the Driver's Hours of Service (HOS) still flow to Encompass via cellular cloud services and is not dependent on a mobile application.

Key Notes

• Basic Tracking Plan: Ideal for customers who need essential GPS Tracking and basic engine status updates.
• Plus Tracking Plan: Adds advanced Vehicle Performance Metrics such as Hard Braking, Idle Time, and fuel efficiency.
• Driver Premium ELD: Includes all features from Plus Tracking, plus ELD compliance tools like Hours of Service (HOS) Tracking and Bluetooth connectivity to the ELD app.

How to Choose the Right Plan

• Compliance Needs: If you require ELD compliance, select Driver Premium ELD.
• Performance Monitoring: For detailed Vehicle Performance insights, choose Plus Tracking or higher.
• Basic Location Tracking: If your priority is GPS Tracking and basic engine data, Basic Tracking is sufficient.

What Not to Do / Common Pitfalls

• Do not assume all plans include ELD compliance features. Only the Driver Premium ELD plan provides HOS tracking and FMCSA compliance.
• Do not confuse the Plus Tracking Plan with the Driver Premium ELD. Plus Tracking does not include Vehicle Performance Data (Hard Braking, Idle Time, etc.) or HOS.
• Do not expect HOS data to flow without the Encompass ELD mobile app. HOS is the one feature that requires the mobile app; all other data flows via cellular cloud services.
