Add DVIR Defects (Inspection Items) in Encompass (Classic)

Purpose

This article explains how to manage and add DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) Defects or Inspection Items in Encompass, allowing companies to customize inspection items based on their specific vehicle and safety requirements.

When to Use This Article

• You need to add a custom Inspection Item (Defect) for use in DVIR Templates
• You want to review the default list of DVIR Defects in Encompass
• A Defect you created is not appearing in DVIR Templates

Steps to Follow

1. From the Vehicle Management tab, click Setup in the drop-down menu in the upper right corner.

   

2. Scroll down to the Maintain Unit Maintenance Info box in the right column and click Maintain DVIR Defect.

   

3. Review the existing list of defects. To add a new item, click Add DVIR Defect Item at the top of the list.

   

4. Enter the name of the inspection item. Make sure Show in List? is checked. Click Save.

   

What Not to Do / Common Pitfalls

• Do not uncheck Show in List? unless you intentionally want to hide the defect — if unchecked, the item will not be available as an inspection item in DVIR Templates
• Do not duplicate existing default defects — review the existing list before adding new items
